Terror Twins power--activate!

We wish that the terror twins special power was to disappear, or, at the very least, to teleport themselves somewhere else! We can rest assured, however, that they no longer possess the power to reproduce! That's right, the terrible twosome spent a day at the vet's office and came back minus certain parts. What we want to know is, couldn't the vet have taken more parts?

More importantly, missing parts means Rick and Ilsa can go home now!!! Any takers?!

BTW, we want to apologize to our blogging buddies for not keeping up with everyone in a while. We can squarely blame the human who is hopelessly inadequate at keeping on top of his stuff, much less ours. We're thinking of you guys and will be by soon!

No country for old dogs

HEY! Rousseau protests the title of this post! He's not old! Well, sometimes he moves like he is... Besides, he likes keeping pace with Jacks, who's no spring chicken. :) Anyway, Rousseau went to his first agility trial this past weekend--and he did GREAT! No, he's not magically competing in agility (yet!), he came out to support sister Narra and soak up the atmosphere. He's learning to cope with the activity of many people and dogs coming and going. He was a little anxious at first, but he settled in very nicely and even seemed to enjoy all the festivity after a while. Jackson, too, who can get overly excited in these kinds of situations, enjoyed the beautiful weather and fun. He loved watching all the dogs go by--and was never inappropriate! :) The "old" boys can't wait for the next trial!

"We just want to 'potty' all the time, 'potty' all the time..."

We're "potty" animals!!! At least our best buds Wally, Ethel, and Oscar think so! They extended Narra's birthday by a week! WOOHOO!!! Today, Narra got burpday prezzies! Wally sent her awesome duck treats and... BULLIES!!! And, of course, the coolest birthday card ever--that proclaimed us "potty" animals! With sound effects even (we'll leave that to your imagination). Wally said she didn't have to share, but the human made her. :) Thanks, Wally (Ethel and Oscar, too)!!!

See? That's Narra hiding in her crate while she chows down on her bully. She's pretending she's not sharing...
Wally even gave enough bullies for the terror twins. Turns out another benefit of bullies is that puppies have to eat them in their crates! HAHAHAHAHA! But the white ones got something special, too: FOOD! We hope they'll take it and eat it somewhere else...
Big doofus Ricky--he's still eating his bully.BTW, Rick and Ilsa are available for adoption through Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue. Everyone tell your friends--fast!

Of all the gin joints...

Well, we finally got back into the studio today, but you'll never imagine why. We were surprised as well: the human wasn't painting, you see, he was sequestering dogs! Yes, we said DOGS--two of them, White German Shepherd Dogs! We thought we were in the clear when No-Name (who turned out to be named Coach) went home with his breeder. But, no, Wally's apes call to say there are dogs who need help, and, of course, our feeble human runs to their aid. (Wally, we don't hold you responsible for the acts of your apes!) So, we have a couple of house guests who we hope won't over-stay their welcome.

The human decided to change their names from ignorant ones to silly ones: Rick and Ilsa. First of all, these two dogs are brother and sister... why would you name them after people who--duh--were obviously not blood related? And second, who is going to adopt dogs whose names invoke THE 20th-century emblem of noble sacrifice and unfulfilled love? Okay, we won't go there...

Regardless, we hope someone will adopt these two. And we hope it is someone who is considerably kinder and more loving than the man who dumped them at an overcrowded shelter. We won't bore you with the details; the bottom line is, these guys need a home (or homes)! Here's the 411: 8-months old, intact, in good general health (vet records forthcoming) as far as we know, and supposedly housebroken. They're super sweet and will probably get along great with everyone and everything. Even Narra has warmed up to them a bit. :) The human says he will spay and neuter (ew) these guys before they can go home. So, if anyone knows someone looking for a good White German Shepherd Dog--or two--send them to our house!

Oh, and here, we have a video, too! :)

Dilly in Philly

With a nod to our friends Penny, Poppy, and Patches (and the China cabinet gang, too!) at Airedale Heaven, we'd like to introduce... Welsh Heaven! No, we're not talking about our corgi uncle Kidlat, we're talking about our new, long-distance friend Dilly, a Welsh Terrier. Doesn't she look like a mini-Airedale?! :) But she's only about 25lbs! We haven't met her in person yet--our human just met her last night. Maybe next time we're in the city, we'll go visit. She came to live with a couple artist friends less than a week ago. Now, she spends her days hanging out in their studio and at a hip gallery. Cool, man.

Party in Pink

Guess who turned FIVE years old today? Hint: she's the only girl in our house! :) Yup, Little Miss Too-Good-for-You is getting up there in dog years... Dont' tell her we said this, but she doesn't show it--she's as crazy as ever. Anyway, we love birthdays because we all get stuff! Narra got a special pink wubba (just for girls), but we all got to share a fresh bag of our favorite duck treats. We also had a special dinner: our favorite beef heart! PLUS, we got bully sticks for dessert! It's been a long time!!! We always knew she was the favorite.
Narra still doesn't know how to share.
But bully for us!PS
Our no-name buddy at the SPCA was rescued by his breeder. Long story, but the breeder, Lyloak German Shepherds, found out about the dog and came to get him. Hooray!

Cheatin' heart

As many of our friends know, our human occasionally trollops around with Wally's humans. Well, for the most part, we're able to ignore the hours away, the smells, even the sharing of our treats. BUT we draw the line when actual trolloping reaches our doorstep. Okay, okay, it hasn't actually crossed that threshold yet, but we know what the human's thinking... !!!

Meet another no-name orphan at the Delaware SPCA. This skinny guy was left tied to the gate of another shelter who couldn't take him in. We hear this guy's friendly, in spite of his hard luck. He still has his manbits, so will not be available for adoption until they're removed next week. If you know anyone who might be interested, this goofy, sweet, 8-month old GSD will be available for adoption by Wednesday, September 2.

Runnin' with the big dogs

Uncle Kidlat didn't get to go on the roadtrip, but we partied at his place when we got back! In fact, it was the first time he got to hang with all of us--it was even his first time to meet Rousseau. He thinks he's a big dog! :)

On the road--and back--again

We're back! And we finally got the human blogging again (at least for the moment!)... We think his mind is still up in the mountains somewhere. If there are two places he feels most at home, they are the solitude of the forest and the comfort of the past. We had plenty of both on our recent roadtrip. We even came as close to mountains as the eastern US offers: the Adirondacks. Plus, we squeezed in the Berkshires and Finger Lakes (actually just Cayuga Lake).
Rousseau did awesome with the crowded campgrounds (better than the human!) and even enjoyed a leisurely walk across a bucolic campus. We all survived a skunk scare--a neighbor dog was not so lucky--and a visit from a hungry bear cub (good thing his mama wasn't around). And although it rained a lot, we made the most of it: meatables!!! Yes, we finally got to celebrate Jacks's birthday with "cake"!

Catching up (cramming!)

The past week was kinda eventful--though not all the events included us! Still, lots going on, just not blogging. As you may have noticed, our human isn't too good about staying on top of things. In fact, he usually waits til the last minute. And although we don't really have a deadline staring us down, we're leaving on a roadtrip in the morning (WOO HOO!), so we told our boy he better blog now or be even more ridiculously behind...

Anyway, the human started the week by going to a herding trial. Again, we must note: we didn't get to go along! Sure looks like fun, doesn't it? Well, we're promised that we'll be doing some herding very soon. Narra needs to continue her training, and Tuchuck needs to start. Rousseau needs to be tested; we don't know if he'll like it or not. But brother Jackson is ready to watch!

Here's a cardi herding--but it's not our Uncle Kidlat

And an Aussie herding--but it's not Rousseau...
The other big event this week was a first-time play date for Tuchuck and Kidlat! Wow, they had a blast. Tuchuck even showed some restraint playing with the baby. We guess there's always a first time for everything. If you want to see more, the human made a little video (and it's really fun!).

Thanks for visiting our blog! We'll be back in about a week!

Birthday love for Big Head

We don't know why or how, but the human has dubbed July 31 Jackson's birthday. We're pretty sure it's not his real birthday--and it may not even be his actual Gotcha Day--but, for whatever reason, today's his day! Also, we don't know his real age, but (again for reasons unknown) the human says Jacks is about 10 years old. He's a wise old man!

What we want to know is where's the cake??? The human says we have to wait because Jacks has been experiencing some stomach trouble these past couple days. We won't subject you to the gory details, but big bro has been feeling rather poorly. In fact, for the first time in the history of the world, Jacks passed up his dinner yesterday. He seemed better today as he ate all his food, but we still have to wait for our, er, his cake. We understand it will take the form of some meatables... Mmmm...

30 July 2008

What if Tuchuck were a pretty, little girl?

Whaddyathink? This super pretty little girl is Ginger--and she's Uncle Kidlat's new girlfriend!!! Can you believe it?! Kidlat hasn't even met Tuchuck yet--watch out when they do! Kidlat started school today and met Ginger as well as a bunch of other new friends. He had an amazing time.

All we have to say is thanks a lot--read severe sarcasm. Not only did the human abandon us for a good part of the day, but he did so to take the puppy to school?! Well, Wally, you're right: looks like if you're not around, we're totally abandoned. Hence the lack of blogging, as our friends may have noticed. Bad human, bad!

21 July 2008

Livin' Large!

Hey, are those Leona Helmsley's dogs?! No, that's our foster brother Boone and his new sister Sadie! :) We just got pictures of Boone from his new family. Our boy's doing great--he's well loved and fitting in just fine. In fact, we hear he's become quite the social butterfly; everyone loves him! We're so happy for you, Boone. (But is it okay if we still miss you a little bit?)

Poor Olive the Octopus

To prepare for our play date, Tuchuck and Rousseau played tug-of-war--at the expense of poor Miss Olive. She's got eight legs, anyway...

Encore!!

WOOHOO!!! We had an encore of last week's playdate! Bonus: Wally, Ethel, and Oscar brought a pool!!! (Thanks for the meatables and fruitables, too, guys!)

We chased balls in the yard, too: chase balls, cool in the pool, chase balls, cool in the pool, chase balls, ...
Of course, "some of us" didn't do anything.
There was something dirty lurking in the grass...
Um, we wonder who was the wettest and dirtiest???
Summer daze, drunk on love? Luv ya, Oscar!!

18 July 2008

Super Play Date!

We had a super play date last Sunday! Our friends Wally, Ethel, and Oscar came over. Our human even took video (which we thought he'd never get around to editing), so now we can re-live the fun over and over!
PS
We wanted to mention that Sadie, the "damsel" at the SPCA (from a previous post), has been adopted! Her name is now Sophie--though she's no La Brador, says Wally--and she joined us at the dog park the other day. Unfortunately, she's not a dog park kinda gal, not yet anyway. We're sure she'll do better once she's settled in to the security of her new family and home. Also, our orphan friend Zip from Missoula was adopted, too!

17 July 2008

Say "uncle"!

Here's our new "uncle"! His name is Kidlat (means "lightning"--HAHAHAHAHA!), and he's a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. Our human's parental units brought him home from the breeder on Sunday, and the little guy had his first vet visit yesterday. Clean bill of health!

Our human has been spending a lot of time at Kidlat's house helping the new puppy. We don't know why, because the kid doesn't seem to do much other than lie around.

Anyway, we haven't even met him yet--except Narra, of course. If he's gonna come to our house, he better learn how to run on those little legs!
